Question (Category: Chevy)
talked with gmtech last night. I changed my thermostat with no success. 2004 6liter silverado with 96000 miles is still over heating. Where do I go next, water pump or radiator, or is there somthing else I should try next.
Info Request
Ok, have you checked the space in front of the rad between it and the AC condenser? If there is any debris, this can cause your overheating.Do you have heat in the cab when this happens? It you do then the water pump is working, if not then either the pump or the head gaskets. When it is idling and cold, take the cap off the surge tank and see if the coolant bubbles. If so then you have a bad head gasket. Please ACCEPT my answer when you are satisfied. All INFORMATION IS FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY!! PLEASE ASK IF YOU NEED MORE HELPGOD BLESS!
Info Request
Does it bubble more rapidly as it warms up?Once the system is full, it should not bubble at all, maybe the odd bubble if there is a trapped bubble. There is a tester that draws the air from the coolant as it bubbles through a liquid that reacts with combustion gases to check for head gasket leaks. Please ACCEPT my answer when you are satisfied. All INFORMATION IS FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY!!
